Job Summary:
The Fully Cooked Production Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of a poultry processing facility that specializes in fully cooked products. This individual will ensure that production processes run efficiently, meet quality standards, comply with food safety regulations, and align with organizational goals. The Production Manager will lead a team to achieve production targets, maintain high safety and quality standards, and drive continuous improvement in all operational areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee all plant operations on 2nd shift, including cooking and packaging of product.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and deliver products on time, in full, and in compliance with quality standards.
- Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with supply chain, maintenance, and quality control teams to ensure smooth operations across departments.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of production supervisors, operators, and support staff.
- Manage staffing plans and ensure adequate workforce levels to meet production demands.
- Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to employees, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Promote a culture of innovation by encouraging process improvement suggestions and leading efforts to implement best practices.
- Utilize data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor plant performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Promote safety awareness and proactively identify and address potential hazards in the production process.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
- Foster a positive working relationship with other departments, such as sales, logistics, and customer service, to ensure smooth product flow and customer satisfaction.
Quality & Food Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all plant operations comply with relevant food safety and regulatory standards, including HACCP, GMP, and more.
- Monitor product quality and partner regularly with inspectors to guarantee that fully cooked poultry products meet company specifications and customer expectations.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to address any deviations from quality standards and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in poultry processing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing fully cooked products.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations (HACCP, USDA, FDA, etc.), and experience in implementing quality control systems in a food manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience with fully cooked poultry products is highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Solid understanding of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and cost control strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels.
- Proficient in using ERP systems and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of plant maintenance, food safety protocols, and regulatory compliance standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
- Occasional lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a refrigerated or cold environment, as required in poultry processing facilities.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a fully operational poultry processing plant, with typical conditions including exposure to temperature-controlled environments, operational noise, and potential allergens. The manager will work both in an office setting for administrative tasks and on the production floor for operational oversight.
